I recently assisted a client experiencing homelessness to turn himself in on an outstanding warrant. I picked him up from jail, gave him a ride to detox, and he is now completing inpatient treatment.

I did not feel pressured to do anything. I liked that it was my choice if I wanted to follow up with the resources they gave me.

They were open and helped me with everything including food for my cats. They made me think people were okay again.

Growing up, there were a lot of ups and downs, and I feel that everybody needs to feel supported and have a chance to succeed.

I got into this line of work to get involved and help my community. I love getting to know my participants and listening to their stories; building rapport is one of the best parts of my job. There’s nothing more satisfying than watching the people you’re working with make progress and move toward better stability. It’s been amazing getting to know not only my participants, but also the people I work with, and the various nonprofits/organizations that are dedicated to helping their community!

I desire to work with families and better my community.
