Accountable Communities of Health (ACHs)

CHOICE is the Accountable Community of Health (ACH) serving the Central Western Washington region.

ACHs are regional organizations that work with their communities on health care and social needs-related projects and activities. Nine ACHs were established by the Health Care Authority to be neutral conveners, investors, and coordinating bodies between the health care delivery system and local communities. ACHs receive funds through the Medicaid Transformation Project (MTP) to transform health systems. We distribute these funds throughout the region to support local health improvement projects.

To learn more about ACHs, please visit the Health Care Authority's website.

CHOICE serves the people of central western Washington, an area that extends from what is now known as South Puget Sound to the Columbia River and from the foothills of Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens to the Pacific Ocean. This is the historical and present-day land of Native peoples who have nurtured and supported the natural abundance of this region throughout time immemorial. As we continue to listen and learn from communities, we are committed to working together to build a future where all people, especially the original peoples of these lands, can live well and thrive.

We invite you to learn with us, and share resources that we should know about.

What we're about

Promoting health equity

At the heart of our organization is an unwavering commitment to health equity. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstance, has the opportunity to live their healthiest life. This means addressing disparities and championing fair and just strategies in the ways we support communities.

Improving access and outcomes

We collaborate with local healthcare providers, community partners, and Tribal health leaders to fund and support regional health improvement projects. Through these partnerships, we're actively improving healthcare access, outcomes, and systems of care.
